It's time to climb your own ladder
Prayer
is only the way that we can speak, communicate, and have communion with God
that touch his heart. In the Jewish
tradition, the ladder in Jacob’s dream (Genesis 28:9-15) is a symbol of prayer.
God shows Jacob that just as the ladder “reached from the earth up to
heaven,” prayer connects the earth with to heaven and man to God. When Jacob sees “the angels of God going up
and down the stairway,” we notice that the angels go up with the prayer
request and come down with the Lord’s answer. They do not come down first, for prayer must
be initiated in the earthly realm where man has been given authority to
rule.
Prayer is not optional, but a necessity. It is a means of giving our freedom back to
God and asking Him to take back the authority that He has given to us.
What is the definition of Prayer?
In
Greek, one of the words for “prayer”
is προσεύχομαι
(Proseuchomai: prós, "towards, exchange" and euxomai, "to wish,
pray"). Therefore, prayer is an
interaction with the Lord and in which we exchange our wishes for His wishes and desires, as He imparts faith to us.
It is of utmost importance to ask
according to two things:
(1)
According to His will: (His wishes, His desires). If
we don’t know Him, we will never be able to ask according with His desires. For that is
so important to expend time reading with Him, His Word, understanding his ways,
looking for His promises and His commands. Like the Bride expends time with her
fiancée to know him and learn how to love him better.
Make His thought, your thoughts.
Begin to think like Him. How He likes to be worship, how He likes you to
approach Him. That knowledge will empower your adoration, because any time that we remember a characteristic of his personality, we
also remember what God we serve. He is Eternal, Faithful, Foreknowable, Good, Holy, Immutable, Impartial, Incomprehensible, Infinite, Jealous, Just, Long suffering, Love and Merciful God. Omnipotent, Omnipresent, Omniscient, Righteous, Self-existent, Self-sufficient, Sovereign, Transcendent, Truthful, and Wise.
He doesn’t need you to
remember Him what kind of God He is.
It is you, who needs to
tell yourself and remember how your Father and Savior is.
1 John 5:14-16
“This is the confidence we have
in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears
us. And if we know that He hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have
what we asked of Him.”
(2) According
to our faith. In Hebrew, the word
“emunah”, from which we derive the English
“faith,” means “what I will do to
support God.” This conveys a totally
different understanding than in our western culture, which emphasizes our
“faith in God.” So faith now is what I will do the help, to maintain, to bear
God regarding what I am asking. Many times it is necessary to stretch your hand
and touch the Master’s robe to have your miracle. In all the time you initiated
the process. When you decide to go in
and pray to His presence believing that He is God.
Matthew 21:22
“If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in
prayer.”
Mark 6:4-5
“Then Jesus told them, ‘A prophet
is honored everywhere except in his own hometown and among his relatives and
his own family.’ And
because of their unbelief, He couldn’t do any miracles among them except to
place His hands on a few sick people and heal them.”
“Then He
touched their eyes, saying, ‘According to your
faith let it be to you.’”
Matthew 21:21-22 (NLT)
“Then Jesus told them, ‘I tell you the truth, if you have faith and don’t doubt, you can do
things like this and much more. You can even say to this mountain, ‘May you be
lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. You
can pray for anything, and and if you have faith, you
will receive it."
