Clean Your Sins to have a Successful Prayer

Clean your sin for a success prayer

There isanother Hebrew word for prayer: tefilah” (תפילה), which comes from the verb pallel (פלל), meaning "to judge.”In the reflexive form it islehitpallel,” which means “to judge oneself." Prayer is a time of self-evaluation, a timeto examine oneself in the presence of the Lord. Once we are in His Presence and express our adoration to Him, we understandhow great He is and at the same time, how little and unworthy we are.

Psalm 8:1-4 (NLT)

“O Lord, our Lord, Your majestic name fillsthe earth!Your glory is higher than the heavens. You have taught children andinfantsto tell of Your strength, silencing Your enemiesand all who oppose You.
When I look at the night sky andsee the work of Your fingers—the moon and the stars You set in place—what aremere mortals that You should think about them, human beings that You should carefor them?”

Theimmediate response to self-examination is repentance. We must be clean from allsin.

Imagea pad of sticky notes. Now imagineyourself writing down every single sin that you can remember on separate stickynotes and putting them on yourself one by one in the presence of the Lord:

I lied to abill collector and said I wasn’t here
I saidnothing when the cashier failed to properly ring up one of my items, resultingin my stealing the item from the store
I stole fromGod by not tithing the ten percent belongs to Him
I took thecredit for something my co-worker did
I did notpray for other and bring their prayer request to the Presence of the Lord
I failed toread my devotional, to pray or to read the Bible.
I neglectedto help the needy when the opportunity presented itself
I explodedin anger when my children disobeyed me
With thesame mouth that I use to glorify God, I also spoke badly about my friend

Now visualizethat between you and God is an open umbrella, representing all of your sins. That open umbrella separates you from His presence and it keeps you from seeingGod face to face. He sees you covered insin and because of His holiness He cannot stand in the presence of sin. It is necessary to confess our sins so thatwe can be restored through Christ’s redemption.

In Hebrew, theword “holy” is “kaddosh,” which literally means "to be set apart for aspecial purpose.” Our sin is cleansed byHis blood and we become separated from the world for the special purpose ofgiving Him honor, glory, and praise.

But in Greek, the word “holy” (hágios)means to be different, set apart, distinguished or distinct from the world and special to the Lord.

The only way that we can enter the presence of God is tobecome “kaddosh” or “hagios”; that is, separated from the world because we arespecial to God. Before, our sinseparated us from Him; now, the Blood of the Lamb separates us from the rest ofthe world. It makes us holy at his Presence, because He love us first and paidon the cross the penalty of our sins.

Hebrews 10:19-22

AmplifiedBible (AMP)
19Therefore, brethren, since we have full freedom and confidence toenter into the [Holy of] Holies [by the power and virtue] in the blood ofJesus,
20By this fresh(new) and living way which He initiated and dedicated and opened for us throughthe separating curtain (veil of the Holy of Holies), that is, through Hisflesh,
21And since we have[such] a great and wonderful and noble Priest [Who rules] over the house ofGod,
22Let us all comeforward and draw near with true (honest and sincere) hearts in unqualifiedassurance and absolute conviction engendered by faith (by [a]that leaningof the entire human personality on God in absolute trust and confidence in Hispower, wisdom, and goodness), having our hearts sprinkled and purified from aguilty (evil) conscience and our bodies cleansed with pure water.

The act ofrepentance - saying, “Father, I am sorry” - is all that is needed to restorecommunication with God. But according tothe Hebrew definition of prayer, God will also show us our inner sins - theones that we do not pay attention to or the ones we have buried in thepast. Hatred, un-forgiveness, guilt, fear, idolatry, doubts, bitterness, the Lord reveals them to us and convictsour hearts so that we might receive forgiveness and be made holy.

Psalm 19:12 (NLT)
“How can I know all thesins lurking in my heart?Cleanse me from these hidden faults.”

Godcloses our umbrella, cleanses our sin and takes it upon Himself, and now we areable to approach Him. He takes each one of your sticky notes, makes a ball andHe throws them behind his back; and He never turns back. That is His promise. There is no record. Instead of seeing our sin, He sees only the Blood of theLamb that covers the multitude of our sins.
